"Loper" provides a lot of libertarian proselytizing by a larger than life billionaire, but it's primarily a coming of age story about a high school senior coerced into a test involving both humanitarian aid and combat. It's also a screed on how a corporation and free enterprise beats a corrupt U.S. government at its own game. "Loper" is what might result if a collaboration between Ayn Rand and Tom Clancy were possible. That said, I found this book eminently readable. It was fast paced, moved along logically, and although filled with cookie-cutter characters, "Loper" held my interest.Product details

The author provides an interesting combination of a futuristic utopia grounded in small town USA that has a contemporary familiarity with which the reader can identify. The protagonist, Will, maintains a believable small-town boy's freshness and innocence, with a story line that provides sufficient plot twists to keep the reader engaged. Good start for a first novel - an author to watch!
Loved this book and could hardly put it down. The philosophies presented on power, societies, governments and how this current economic and political debacle we're in might turn out is very interesting. I would like to see a sequel to this one, there is a lot of story left to tell with Will. I have read a lot of novels and Loper is right up there with the best, what a wonderful read. It's great to find a new author and Blankenburg is a very good one. I also can't wait for his next book. If you love good stories, get this book.

Loper is a thoughtful piece of fiction with an articulately developed plot of social, political and economic consequence. This author's first foray into fiction leaves the reader wanting for more from Blankenburg. Give it a try.
I found it very interesting. Great flow, I loved it! I didn't want to stop reading it. Can't wait for the author's next book.
It was a very good, starting in small town Will grow rather quickly and became the leader the foundation was in need of. Sometimes we need a good mentor in our life.

This book was hard to put down!
Once I picked up this book, I had to read it all the way through. It's very interesting, because we know we are at a point where we are only beginning to see the social and economic repercussions of past and current political decisions and actions. The author knows we are prime for a social and political shift. He gives an excellent view of an option we should think about taking.
The main character, Will was very endearing. I was disappointed when the book ended because I wanted to keep reading about Will!
